King Taejo of Goguryeo

Sixth king of Goguryeo, who conquered Okjeo and made the throne hereditary in the Go clan

He subjugated Okjeo and Dongye, taking seafood and salt from the east coast as tribute, and attacked Han commanderies in Liaodong to the west. In his time Goguryeo, at the head of a league of five clans, began moving toward a centralised state. The throne passed to his younger brothers Chadae and Sindae, a brother-to-brother succession that changed to father-to-son around the reign of King Gogukcheon.
