Yi Gwal

General of the Injo Restoration who, rewarded only as a second-rank merit subject, rebelled in 1624, briefly took Hanyang and was killed by his own men

After the restoration he guarded the north as army commander of Pyeongan, but when his son was accused of treason in 1624 he rebelled. He took Hanyang and set up Prince Heungan as king before being defeated; Injo fled as far as Gongju. Survivors of the revolt fled to the Later Jin, giving a pretext for the First Manchu Invasion.
