Goguryeo Restoration Movement

Geom Mo-jam rose at Hanseong (Jaeryeong, Hwanghae) with the Goguryeo prince An Seung as king; Silla later installed An Seung as king of Bodeok at Geummajeo (Iksan).

After Goguryeo fell, Tang moved tens of thousands of households deep into China. In 670 Geom Mo-jam brought the prince An Seung from an island in the Yellow Sea and made him king at Hanseong (Jaeryeong, Hwanghae). The same year Go Yeon-mu crossed the Yalu with the Silla general Seol O-yu to attack Ogol Fortress. Silla backed the rebels against Tang.

But An Seung killed Geom Mo-jam and fled to Silla, where King Munmu settled him at Geummajeo (Iksan) and made him king of Goguryeo (later of Bodeok), a state absorbed into Silla in 684.
