Silla Village Registers
Registers of the people, land, livestock and trees of four villages near Seowon-gyeong (Cheongju), revised by village heads every three years.
For each village the registers list households and people, fields of several kinds, hemp fields, mulberry, pine-nut and walnut trees, cattle and horses, and the changes over three years. People were graded into six age classes and households into nine grades by the number of adults — evidence of how closely the state tracked taxes and labour.
They were found in 1933 in the Shōsōin of Tōdai-ji in Nara. The "eulmi year" in the text is usually taken as 755 (14th year of Gyeongdeok), though 695 and 815 have also been proposed.
