Mangi

Resident of Myeonghak-so in Gongju who rose up with his brother Mangsoi in 1176

The people of hyang, bugok and so settlements bore heavier burdens and discrimination than ordinary county residents, and Mangi rose against this. When the rebels took Gongju, the government raised Myeonghak-so to the status of Chungsun County to placate them, but it soon broke its word and arrested their families; the brothers rose again and were crushed in 1177. It was one of the uprisings of the lower classes under the military regime.
