Mangsoi

Resident of Myeonghak-so who rose up with his brother Mangi

He rose against the discrimination and exploitation suffered by the people of the so settlements and captured Gongju. The government first raised Myeonghak-so to Chungsun County to calm them, then sent troops again; the brothers rose once more but were put down in 1177. It is a leading example of revolts under the military regime against the status discrimination imposed on so residents.
