Founded in July 1935 around Kim Won-bong’s Uiyeoldan, it brought together Jo So-ang’s Korean Independence Party, Ji Cheong-cheon’s New Korea Independence Party, the Korean Revolutionary Party and the Great Korea Independence Party; Kim Kyu-sik also joined.
When the Uiyeoldan faction took control, nationalists such as Jo So-ang and Ji Cheong-cheon withdrew. Kim Gu, who stood by the Provisional Government, never joined and formed the Korean National Party (1935). The party became the Korean National Revolutionary Party in 1937 and formed the Korean National Front Federation, which created the Korean Volunteer Corps. Kim Gu’s camp formed its own federation, and in 1940 the Kim Gu, Jo So-ang and Ji Cheong-cheon groups merged into the Korea Independence Party, the mainstay of the Provisional Government.
