Aeno

Peasant leader who rose with Wonjong at Sabeol-ju (Sangju) in 889

He rose up under Queen Jinseong when the hard-pressed court demanded taxes. The official sent to suppress the rising was too afraid to advance. The uprising set off banditry across the country, and in 896 the "Red Trousers" bandits reached the western edge of Gyeongju.
