Yanggil

Late Silla strongman of Bugwon (Wonju) under whom Gung Ye rose, and who was later defeated by him

Of the strongmen who rose in the provinces after the Wonjong and Aeno uprising under Queen Jinseong, Yanggil was based at Bugwon. In 892 he took in Gung Ye, who had left Gihwon, and gave him troops to raid the lands to the east. As Gung Ye grew strong the two came to blows, and Yanggil was badly defeated at Binoeseong in 899.
