An Hyang
Scholar who brought Zhu Xi’s writings from Yuan and first introduced Neo-Confucianism to Goryeo
He copied the works of Zhu Xi in Yuan and brought back portraits of Confucius and Zhu Xi, introducing Neo-Confucianism to Goryeo for the first time. When the national academy declined, he raised the Seomhakjeon scholarship fund to revive Confucian education. Later Baek I-jeong studied Neo-Confucianism in Yuan and passed it on to Yi Je-hyeon and others. Under the Joseon king Jungjong, Ju Se-bung founded Baegundong Seowon in his honour.
