Naval commander who routed a pirate fleet off Gwaneumpo, Namhae, in 1383
He argued that the Japanese pirates had to be met at sea with a trained navy. In 1383, as naval commander, he used cannon to rout the pirate fleet at Gwaneumpo off Namhae (the Battle of Gwaneumpo), counted with the Battle of Jinpo among the great victories of the Goryeo navy.
