King Muryeong
Twenty-fifth king of Baekje, who sent royal kin to the 22 damno districts and revived the kingdom
On taking the throne he executed Baekga, King Dongseong’s killer, and repelled several attacks by Goguryeo and the Malgal. He repaired embankments and returned wandering people to the land, reviving agriculture. In a letter to Liang in 521 he declared that Baekje "had again become a strong country," and Emperor Wu of Liang named him General Who Pacifies the East. His tomb at Songsan-ri in Gongju is a brick tomb in the Southern Dynasties style; its epitaph stone, inscribed "General Who Pacifies the East, King Sama of Baekje," makes it a royal tomb whose occupant is certain.
