Park Sang-jin
Commander of the Korea Restoration Association, executed for leading the republican secret society
He passed the examination for judges but turned to the independence movement after the annexation. In 1915 in Daegu he founded the Korea Restoration Association together with the Punggi restoration group and others, serving as commander-in-chief with Kim Jwa-jin as his deputy in Manchuria. To fund a military academy in Manchuria for a war of independence, the group raised money, raided tax wagons and assassinated wealthy landowners it judged pro-Japanese who refused to contribute. The organisation was exposed in 1918 and he was arrested.
