Fall of Pyongyang
After King Seonjo left, Konishi Yukinaga’s army crossed the Taedong and took Pyongyang, where it stayed until January 1593.
With the Japanese across the Taedong, Seonjo left Pyongyang on the 11th of the sixth month, leaving Yun Du-su and Kim Myeong-won to hold it. A Korean night raid across the river failed, and the retreating troops gave away a shallow ford. When the Japanese crossed there, Yun threw the weapons into a pond and abandoned the city; Konishi entered on the 15th.
Konishi pushed no further. Yi Sun-sin’s fleet stopped supplies and reinforcements from coming up the west coast, and militias rose behind his lines. Meanwhile Kato Kiyomasa reached Hoeryeong in Hamgyeong and captured the princes Imhae and Sunhwa.
