King Gaero

Twenty-first king of Baekje, captured and killed when Hanseong fell to Goguryeo

He is said to have exhausted the kingdom building great palaces and walls, lured on by the monk Dorim whom King Jangsu had sent. In 472 he sent a letter to Northern Wei asking it to attack Goguryeo, but was refused. In 475 a Goguryeo army took Hanseong in seven days, and the king was taken below Acha Fortress and killed. Munju, who had gone to Silla for help, returned, took the throne and moved the capital to Ungjin.
