Yi Ui-bang
General who led the military coup of 1170 with Jeong Jung-bu and Yi Go and then held power
After the coup he killed his fellow plotter Yi Go and held power through the Jungbang, marrying his daughter to the crown prince. In 1174 he crushed a rising of monks from Gwibeopsa and other doctrinal temples in Gaegyeong, and at the end of that year, as Jo Wi-chong’s revolt raged, he was killed by Jeong Jung-bu’s son Jeong Gyun.
